How to use Nexium Control

Nexium Control is for oral use only. The recommended dose is 1 capsule a day for up to 14 days, taken in the morning with or without food. You may need to take the capsules for 2 or 3 days in a row before your reflux symptoms get better.

If your heartburn and acid reflux symptoms get worse or do not improve after taking Nexium Control for 14 days in a row, you should consult a doctor.

Nexium Control ingredients

Nexium Control contains the active ingredients: 20mg of Esomeprazole.

The other ingredients are: glycerol monostearate 40-55, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hypromellose, reddish-brown iron oxide (E172), yellow iron oxide (E172), magnesium stearate, methacrylic acid ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1) dispersion 30 per cent, cellulose microcrystalline, synthetic paraffin, macrogol 6000, polysorbate 80, crospovidone (Type A), sodium stearyl fumarate, sugar spheres (sucrose and maize starch), talc, titanium dioxide (E171) and triethyl citrate.

Nexium Control side effects

Some people may experience side effects when taking Nexium Control. The most common side effects include:

  • Headaches
  • Diarrhoea
  • Stomach aches
  • Constipation
  • Wind
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Polyps in the stomach

Nexium Control warnings

Do not take Nexium Control if any of the following apply to you:

  • If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine. Or are allergic to any other proton pump inhibitors.
  • You are taking Nelfinavir.

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before taking Nexium Control if any of the following apply to you:

  • You have had a stomach ulcer or stomach surgery in the past.
  • You have been taking treatment continuously for reflux or heartburn for 4 or more weeks.
  • You have jaundice, severe liver problems or kidney problems.
  • You are over 55 years old and have new reflux symptoms or need to take non-prescription indigestion or heartburn treatments every day.
  • You are due to have an endoscopy or a urea breath test, or you are due to have a specific blood test (Chromogranin A).
  • You are taking or have recently stopped taking any other prescribed or non-prescribed medication.

Nexium Control in pregnancy & breastfeeding

You should not take Nexium Control during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding. If you are suffering from heartburn or acid reflux at this time you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist for advice.
