Otomize Ear Spray information
What is Otomize Ear Spray?
Otomize Ear Spray has been specially formulated to treat mild and moderate outer ear infections, sometimes called ‘swimmer’s ear’ or ‘otitis externa’. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, it targets both the cause and the symptoms of an infection, relieving pain and helping to get you back to full health as quickly as possible.
Triple Action
Otomize Ear Spray has three active ingredients. These work together to ease pain, reduce inflammation and treat the source of the infection. These three ingredients are:
- Neomycin – a type of antibiotic known as an aminoglycoside. It’s used to treat infections caused by a wide variety of bacteria.
- Glacial acetic acid – creates an acidic environment, making it harder for the bacteria to grow.
- Dexamethasone – an anti-inflammatory that will reduce swelling and ease pain caused by an ear infection.
Antibacterial
Most outer ear infections are caused by bacteria. An outer ear infection can happen when water remains in your ear after you go for a swim or have a bath. This creates a warm, moist environment that’s perfect for bacterial growth.
As it’s bacteria that’s behind the infection, you’ll need to use an antibiotic product, like Otomize Ear Spray, to clear it. Otomize Ear Spray contains Neomycin, an antibiotic that will get to work straight away, killing bacteria and stopping your infection in its tracks.
Anti-inflammatory
When your body’s immune system attacks the bacteria growing in your ear, it causes the area around the infection to become inflamed. This inflammation can be pretty painful and can leave your ear looking red and swollen.
Luckily, Otomize Ear Spray also contains a powerful anti-inflammatory called Dexamethasone. This helps to reduce inflammation and irritation inside the ear, easing your pain and giving the antibiotic time to get to work.
Fast-acting
We know that ear infections can be very painful. And, whether it’s you, your child or another loved one who’s suffering, you’ll want to clear the condition up as quickly as possible.
With its three active ingredients, Otomize Ear Spray acts to reduce pain, swelling and other painful symptoms fast. The treatment should clear your infection within 5 – 7 days and you may notice your symptoms beginning to ease after around 48 hours. However, this can vary depending on the severity of your infection.
What Are The Symptoms Of An Ear Infection?
If you have an ear infection, you’ll probably feel pain in and around your ear, especially when touching or wiggling the ear lobe. You might also have difficulty hearing and notice a bit of discharge coming from your ear.
The most common symptoms of an ear infection are:
- Pain
- Redness of the outer ear
- Itching in the ear
- Discharge from the ear
- Headache
- Hearing loss
Ear infections are most common in children and young infants, but they can affect people of any age. Skin conditions, like psoriasis or eczema, can also make you more prone to ear infections.
Alternatives To Otomize Ear Spray
There are a number of different medications available to treat outer ear infections. You may need to try a few out to find the option that’s best for you. Some of the most popular treatments available are:
- EarCalm Spray
- Cetraxal Plus Ear Drops
- Canesten Solution
Otomize Ear Spray vs EarCalm Spray
Like Otomize Ear Spray, EarCalm Spray is designed to treat outer ear infections. However, where Otomize has three active ingredients - Neomycin, Glacial acetic acid and Dexamethasone - EarCalm Spray only contains acetic acid. While this is enough to treat mild pain and inflammation, the triple-action of Otomize may be required for more stubborn infections.
Otomize Ear Spray vs Cetraxal Plus Ear Drops
Cetraxal Plus Ear Drops are also formulated to treat outer ear infections. Like Otomize Ear Spray, Cetraxal Plus contains an antibiotic (Ciprofloxacin) and an anti-inflammatory (Fluocinolone), this allows Cetraxal Plus to treat the symptoms and source of an ear infection. Talk to a medical professional to find out which medication is best suited to you.
Otomize Ear Spray vs Canesten Solution
While bacteria are behind most ear infections, some are caused by fungus. If you have a fungal ear infection, you’ll need to use an anti-fungal treatment like Canesten Solution, as antibiotic medications such as Otomize Ear Spray won’t do the trick.
