Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo is a specially formulated product that’s designed to help ease the symptoms of common scalp conditions such as dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis.

The shampoo contains an active ingredient (benzalkonium chloride) that helps to loosen skin flakes from the scalp and remove them from your hair. The shampoo also contains coconut oil which may help to soothe your skin and condition your hair. 

You can use Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo every day until your symptoms ease. It can then be used as necessary to keep flaking and scaling under control.

How Does Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo Work?

The active ingredient in Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo is called benzalkonium chloride. This ingredient loosens the scales that form on your scalp. The shampoo also has antiseptic properties, and this helps to counteract the microorganisms that can live on your scalp and make the scaling or flaking worse. 

Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo also contains coconut oil. This works to soothe the scalp and condition your hair.

How To Use Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo

Before you apply Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo, you’ll need to wet your hair thoroughly. You can then apply a small amount of the shampoo to your hair using your hands. 

If you have short hair, use an amount that’s roughly the same size as a fifty pence piece. If you have longer hair, you’ll need to use a little more. 

Next, use your fingertips to massage the shampoo into your scalp. This step is important as it will help to loosen any scales or flakes that have formed on your skin. You’ll then need to rinse your hair thoroughly to remove as much of the lather – and scales – as possible. 

As Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo contains coconut oil, you may not need to use any additional conditioner. If you do want to use a separate conditioner, try to apply it to the hair rather than the scalp as this will help avoid irritating your skin. 

Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo can be used daily if necessary. As your skin improves, you can start to use the shampoo less frequently.

Ingredients

The active ingredient in Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo is benzalkonium chloride (0.5% w/w). Often used as a biocide in treatments in medications, benzalkonium chloride kills microorganisms which can make scalp conditions worse. The ingredient also helps to loosen scales or flakes from the scalp and lift them from your hair.

Another important ingredient in Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo is coconut oil. Used to help condition the hair and soothe the scalp, it may ease itching and prevent the need for additional conditioning products. 

Other ingredients in Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo include:

• dilute hydrochloric acid
• lauryldimonium hydroxypropyl hydrolysed collagen
• macrogol lauryl ether 
• sodium benzoate
• sodium chloride
• sodium lauryl ether sulphate (contains sodium hydroxide as a pH adjuster)
• purified water

Side Effects

Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo has been specially developed for use on dry, irritated skin. However, in some rare cases, the shampoo may cause additional irritation or an allergic skin reaction. This is most likely in people with extremely sensitive skin.

Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo can cause irritation if you get it in your eyes.

Warnings

Do not store Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo in temperatures higher than 25˚C. Keep the bottle in the carton and do not use the shampoo after its expiry date. Always check the lid is tightly secured after use and keep Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo out of reach of children.

Where possible, avoid getting Dermax Therapeutic Shampoo in your eyes. If it does come into contact with your eyes, rinse it out with plenty of clean water.
