What is Eurax HC Cream and what is it used for?
Eurax HC Cream provides fast and effective relief from itching and skin irritation. It contains the active ingredients crotamiton (10%) and hydrocortisone (0.25%) that quickly settle itching and improve inflammation.
This cream is suitable for itching, irritation and inflammation of the skin caused by the following conditions:
- Dermatitis
- Eczema
- Allergic rashes
- Hives
- Nettle rashes
- Insect bites and stings
- Heat rash
- Sunburn
Eurax HC cream is manufactured by Thornton and Ross and is non-greasy and non-staining. It is a gentle and soothing cream that can be used by children 10 years of age and older. Do not use Eurax HC Cream on infected or broken skin. Due to the steroid content, we recommend you use this product for no more than 7 consecutive days unless advised by a doctor.
How does Eurac HC Cream work?
Crotamiton (10%), which helps to relieve itching by producing what is called counter-irritation and producing a soothing, cooling effect and Hydrocortisone (0.25%), a topical steroid that helps reduce inflammation, itching and redness.

Reading the following warnings carefully will help to ensure you are selecting an appropriate product.
- Use Eurax HC Cream externally only
- You should not use this cream if you are allergic to the ingredients or if you have weeping or broken skin such as athlete's foot cold sores or acne
- You should not apply the cream on the face or eyes, on your genitals or around your anus
- Avoid using this cream if you are expecting or breastfeeding or on children under 10 years without consulting your doctor
- Consult your doctor if the condition persists within seven days
Please read all packaging and the Product Information Leaflet before taking any new medicine and inform your doctor of medicines you are taking or intend to take.
How to use Eurax HC Cream
Adults and children over 10 years:
Apply Eurax HC Cream thinly to the affected area twice daily, for a maximum of seven days.
Eurax HC Cream ingredients
The active ingredients contained in Eurax HC Cream are: Crotamiton 10% w/w, Hydrocortisone 0.25% w/w.
The medicine also contains the following inactive ingredients: Stearyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, White soft Paraffin, Polyoxy 40 Stearate, Propyl Hydroxybenzoate, Methyl Hydroxybenzoate, pH Modifier (Sulphuric Acid), Perfume and Water.Eurax HC Cream side effects
Not everyone will experience side effects when they use Eurax HC Cream, however, if you do they can include:
- Itching or burning sensation might occur occasionally.
Discontinue using Eurax HC Cream and seek medical advice if there is severe irritation or if you have an allergic reaction or if there are other side effects.
If you are concerned about these effects, or if the product affects you in any other way, stop using it and talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
