Sudafed Blocked Nose Spray information
What is Sudafed Blocked Nose Spray and what is it used for?
Sudafed Blocked Nose Spray is a non-drowsy spray that offers 10 hours of relief from congestion. By making use of the active ingredient xylometazoline, a kind of decongestant, it is able to ease nose and sinus congestion quickly.
Sudafed Blocked Nose Spray offers fast-acting relief and because it works within the nose directly, it provides a local effect, reducing the chance of side effects anywhere else in the body. It is suitable for use in children and adults over the age of 12 years.
Do not use Sudafed Blocked Nose Spray for more than 7 days in a row. If used excessively, it will become less effective. You may suffer from rebound congestion if you use the medication for too long and then stop.
How does Sudafed Blocked Nose Spray work?
Once sprayed into the nose, the active ingredient, xylometazoline targets the alpha receptors found in the walls of your blood vessels within the nasal passage and sinuses. This makes the blood vessels contract and becomes narrower, reducing the amount of blood flowing to the area – reducing swelling and congestion. This also helps to alleviate your blocked nose by decreasing mucus production.
How quickly does Sudafed Blocked Nose Spray work?
Sudafed Blocked Nose Spray will relieve symptoms of a blocked nose and congestion within just a few minutes and the effects will last for up to 10 hours.
