Nystan (Nystatin) Information

  • What is Nystan (nystatin)?

Nystan oral suspension is an anti-fungal, antibiotic medicine used to prevent and treat oral thrush (oral candidiasis or candidal infections) in people over the age of 18 years.

Each Nystan 30ml bottle contains the active ingredient nystatin and comes with a built-in applicator making it quick and easy to apply directly to the mouth.

What is Nystan Oral Suspension used for?

Nystan contains the active ingredient nystatin, which is effective for the treatment of oral thrush.\

If you are over 18 years old and are struggling with oral irritation caused by thrush you can get a prescription of Nystan (nystatin) online through The Independent Pharmacy and get your treatment started without waiting to see your GP.

If you struggle with repeated cases of oral thrush, you can read our oral thrush prevention advice to find out what you can do to reduce the likelihood of your symptoms returning.

How is Nystatin used to treat fungal infections?

Nystatin is taken as an oral dose, 4 times a day. The active ingredient nystatin gets to work quickly because it is applied directly to the source of the fungal infection. Most people who use nystatin will see and feel a noticeable improvement in their condition within the first two days of use.

How does Nystatin work for oral thrush?

The anti-fungal ingredient nystatin, when used as an oral suspension, kills the fungus that causes thrush by targeting the infection generating the contents of the cells to leak making it impossible for them to expand or survive.

    Alternatives to Nystatin
