Dermatix Silicone Scar Gel Information

What is Dermatix Silicone Gel and what is it used for?

Dermatix Silicone Gel is a powerful scar treatment designed to support the moisture in the skin to encourage efficient healing following surgery, burns or injury. This transparent gel dries quickly to flatten and soften scar tissue, effectively fading dark, red or angry scars.

Each tube contains 15 grams of gel and is designed to be used daily for at least 2 months. The ingredients are soothing and gentle easing itching and irritation nourishing your skin helping it look and feel healthier.

What scars can Dermatix Silicone Gel be used to treat?

Dermatix Gel is suitable for the management of all scars caused by burns, injury or surgery. This gel can be used anywhere on the body, including the face. It should not be used on the broken or infected skin and should not be used too close to the eyes.

How does Dermatix Scar Gel work?

Silicone gels are a gentle but effective solution for helping reduce the appearance and irritation of scars. They work by creating a film over the scar which encourages moisture to be retained within the scar tissue. This process slows the production of collagen within the healing skin resulting in scars becoming flatter and softer as well as correcting discolouration.

How quickly does Dermatix Silicone Gel work?

Dermatix Gel starts the process of scar management and improvement from its very first application, however, for best results, the gel needs to be applied twice daily in a thin layer for at least 2 months. People that continue using silicone gels for extended periods of time see the most remarkable improvements to their scars long-term.

Dermatix Silicone Gel alternatives

Silicone is a well-recognised treatment for scar management and reduction and Dermatix Silicone Gel is just one brand. There are many varieties of silicone gels and patches available to purchase without a prescription including SilDerm Scar Gel, Kelo-Cote Scar Gel and Scarsil Scar Gel.

How to use Dermatix Silicone Gel

Dermatix is for external use only to treat scars on unbroken skin that is no longer scabbed or bleeding. It can be used on the face but be careful to avoid contact with the eyes.

  1. Clean the skin gently with warm water and mild soap. Pat the skin dry.
  2. Apply a very thin layer of gel over the scar twice a day.
  3. Leave the gel to dry for 4-5 minutes before covering with makeup or clothes.
  4. You should continue daily use of Dermatix Gel for at least 2 months.
