Canesten Oral Capsule Information
What is Canesten Oral Capsule?
Canesten Oral Capsule is an antifungal treatment, containing the ingredient fluconazole, used to treat thrush in both men and women. All you need is one capsule to kill the infection at the source, quickly clearing unpleasant discharge and the annoying itch caused by thrush.
Each box contains just one 150 mg capsule, which can be taken any time after thrush symptoms appear, symptoms should begin to ease within a few days. If you continue to have symptoms after 7 days you should speak to a doctor for advice.
What are Canesten Oral Capsules used for?
Thrush is a fungal infection that very commonly affects women but can also affect men. Canesten Oral Capsule can be taken by both women and men to quickly clear up infections of thrush that affect the vagina and penis.
Symptoms of thrush:
- White (cottage cheese) discharge
- Itching and irritation around the entrance to the vagina and the head of the penis/ under the foreskin
- Women may also experience pain or stinging during sex or when urinating
- Men may also experience an unpleasant smell or tightening of the foreskin
How do Canesten Oral Capsules work?
Fluconazole is the active ingredient in each Canesten Oral Capsule. It is an antifungal agent that targets the fungi that cause thrush and prevents the cells from being able to reproduce, which results in the cells dying and the infection clearing.
You can take a Canesten Oral Capsule alongside other treatments for thrush, such as Canesten pessaries or Canesten Thrush Cream.
