Bazuka Extra Strength Gel information

  • What is Bazuka Gel and what is it used for?

Getting rid of embarrassing verrucas and warts isn't always easy but you can speed up the process with the use of Bazuka Gel. This proven and effective gel is able to provide fast and efficient relief from these problems, enabling you to get back on track quickly and without fuss.

Bazuka Gel is a uniquely formulated product that dries on the affected areas to form a protective barrier that is water-resistant. This means that the infection is less likely to spread and there is no need to mess around with plasters. This gel contains salicylic acid and lactic acid to get rid of the skin tissue that is infected, which in turn helps to get rid of the virus.

Bazuka Gel is available in 5-gram tubes and suitable for children and adults for use of warts and verrucas. If you have warts on your face, genital warts or if they itch or bleed then medical advice should be sought before use.

    What are warts and verrucas?

Warts and verrucas are small, rough bumps that most commonly appear on the hands and feet but that can develop anywhere on the body. They are caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), they are very common and are very contagious. They can cause some pain or discomfort but for most people, they do not cause any symptoms. Most of the time warts and verrucas will clear up on their own without treatment, however, using a treatment such as Bazuka Gel can help speed up the healing process.

    How does Bazuka Gel work?

Bazuka Gel contains 2 active ingredients, salicylic acid and lactic acid. These two ingredients work in unison to soften hard growths of the skin, making removing the build-up of hard skin easier to remove with an emery board or pumice, while also killing the virus responsible for causing warts and verrucas.

    Alternatives to Bazuka Gel

Bazuka Gel uses the active ingredients salicylic acid and lactic acid to treat warts and verrucas. Duofilm is a direct alternative to Bazuka warts treatment. There are several other non-prescription treatments that use different therapeutic techniques to help clear warts and prevent the further spread of the virus. These treatments include:

  • How to apply Bazuka Gel

Adults, including the elderly and children 2 years and over:

Apply Bazuka Gel to your verruca, wart, corn or callus, once every day, usually in the evening. Repeat the following daily treatment routine until your verruca, wart, corn or callus has disappeared.

    1. Soak the affected area in warm water for 2 to 3 minutes. Dry the area thoroughly with your own towel (to avoid cross-infection).
    2. Remove the protective yellow cap, leaving the white nozzle attached to the tube.
    3. Carefully apply a thin coating (one or two drops) of the gel to the top of the verruca wart, corn or callus, and allow it to dry for a few minutes to form a small white patch that sticks to the skin and is water-resistant. There is no need to cover it with a plaster.
    4. Every evening for the next week, carefully peel or pick off the white patch of dried gel from the verruca, wart, corn or callus.
    5. Apply fresh gel by repeating steps 1 to 3.
    6. Once every week, before applying the fresh gel, gently rub the verruca, wart, corn or callus with the emery board provided, or with a pumice stone. Whatever you use, in the case of a verruca or wart, remember not to let anyone else use it or they could get a verruca or wart as well.

Do not apply excessively. Always replace the cap after use. Do not fold the tube during use.

The length of treatment will vary according to the resistance and size of the verruca, wart, corn or callus. Some may be resolved in a relatively short time but successful treatment of certain verrucas and warts can sometimes take up to 12 weeks, so you must continue and not give up until the verruca, wart, corn or callus has disappeared (unless irritation occurs).

At the end of treatment, if the white patch is difficult to remove, it may be allowed to remain on the skin until if sheds.
