What is Vagisil Medicated Creme?

Vagisil Medicated Creme contains the active ingredient Lidocaine 2% to provide instant numbing relief from external vaginal and anal itching and irritation. Vagisil Creme is lightly scented, non-greasy and non-staining to leave you feeling cool, comfortable and fresh throughout the day and night.

This medicated creme comes in a discreet 30-gram tube, suitable for daily use by children and adults over the age of 12 years for up to a week, to treat irritated skin that is not broken or infected.

What is Vagisil Medicated Creme used for?

Vagisil Medicated Creme offers effective cooling relief from intimate feminine itching that may be caused by one or more of the following factors:

  • Thrush
  • Sweating
  • Tight clothing
  • Detergents
  • Deodorants
  • Periods

Vagisil will not cure the cause of the itching or irritation so it is therefore advisable that you speak to a pharmacist or doctor before using this product to ensure you are receiving the right treatment for you.

How does Vagisil Medicated Creme?

Lidocaine 2% is the active ingredient used in Vagisil Medicated Creme and is a commonly used local anaesthetic. It effectively relieves itching and discomfort on the areas of skin in which it is applied, by blocking nerve signals reaching the brain, temporarily numbing the skin. It works incredibly quickly calming, soothing and calming the skin so you can get on with your day.

Before using Vagisil Medicated Creme it is recommended that you speak to a doctor or pharmacist for advice about the cause of your intimate itching.

Vagisil Medicated Creme warnings

  • Do not use Vagisil Medicated Creme if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Lidocaine or any of the other ingredients of Vagisil.
  • Vagisil should not be used by patients under 12 years of age. It is for external use only around the vagina and anus. Do not swallow and avoid contact with your eyes.
  • Before you use Vagisil you should consult your doctor if you have general itching all over your body or you are unsure of the cause of your intimate itching.
  • Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Vagisil Medicated Creme in pregnancy & breastfeeding

Do not use Vagisil if you are pregnant or breastfeeding without first consulting a doctor.

How to use Vagisil Medicated Creme

Vagisil Medicated Creme is for external use on the skin surrounding the vagina and around the anus by adults and children aged 12 years and above. If you have been prescribed this cream use it exactly as you have been directed.

  1. Apply a 3 - 5 cm strip of cream to the affected areas 3 to 4 times daily for up to one week.

Read the Patient Information Leaflet carefully before use and if symptoms persist for more than one week, speak to a doctor for advice.

Vagisil Medicated Creme ingredients

Active ingredient : Lidocaine 2.0%.

Other ingredients: Stearic acid, Self-emulsifying glyceryl monostearate, Glycerol, Triethanolamine, Zinc oxide, Sulfonated castor oil, Isopropyl alcohol, Chlorothymol, Fragrance, Docusate sodium, Diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, Purified water

Vagisil Medicated Creme side effects

The use of Vagisil can occasionally cause some people to experience side effects. Symptoms of these side effects include:

  • Reddening of the skin
  • Minor swelling
  • Blistering
  • Worsening of the itch and/or irritation.

In the unlikely event that you experience these symptoms, stop using Vagisil and consult your doctor for advice.
